thank you beloved German telephone providers!

Dear German telephone provider,

thank you!
Yes, you have your mistakes (Mobilfunk: BDI kritisiert LTE-Ausbau in Deutschland), but overall you have a good coverage in the bigger cities and on the highways. And the maybe most important point: You offer this for an affordable price. For that you would get the award for charity in Canada. Today I want to tell you why.

At congstar I get a plan with 5 GB included data and unlimited minutes and SMS to all german networks for 20 € (approx. 30 CAD). If you pay 3 € more, you even get LTE. As a vodafone prepaid customer you get 10 GB for the same 20 €. And if I used all my included data for the month I can go on surfing with slower tempo. At least that should give appropriate data for WhatsApp and Google Maps (if you wait for the map to load).

Now I want to view at the canadian mobile phone market. At Fido (part of Rogers) you get the 10 GB incl. unlimited minutes and SMS for cheap 75 CAD. And for even cheaper 45 CAD you get unlimited Minutes and SMS - Then you have the comfortable option to pay for every used MB. But of course there are also prepaid plans available. You have to pay only 70 CAD for 2 GB and unlimited minutes and messages. HEaven on earth.

The only cheaper option (that is not limited to single states) seems to be Public Mobile. For monthly 25 CAD you get a 1 GB prepaid plan with unlimited Minutes and SMS.

But the problem I have as a Public Mobile customer: When I used my Gigabyte of data. It won't be slower. It's just gone. While the canadians seems to be happy about ther "no overhead fees" option, I could explode. Either I pay 30 CAD for additional 1 GB or I wait until the next First of the month. I should decide that in the next days. But to be honest: The Campus Wifi is not good enough for every spot at UBC.

Best (analog) regards
T.
