I have to admit: I was shocked. Yesterday, I realised something while talking with friends about christmas and christmas traditions. The beautiful German tradition of christmas cookies is widely unknown in our European neighbour countries as well as in Canada. For me, christmas cookies are a symbol for the christmas feeling: Sitting together with the family, eating apples, oranges, drinking "punsch". This cozy feeling of christmas.
Of course the cozy, relaxing evenings in advent are decreasing while growing older. But christmas cookies are definitely something that reminds me of those evenings. And they are kind of a replacement for them when either no one is there I could sit with together or if I don't have time. They stand for remembering.
So please French, Canadian, Finnish, Mexican, American, International people, do me a favour: look for christmas cookie recipies and experience a whole new feeling. You're welcome!
P.S.
Just 21 days until christmas eve!!!
